Better known as a long time fanatical follower of both Killing Joke (the highly influencial &
legendary post-punk experimental rock band) and Chelsea Football Club (thanks Fuzz), I have now
become somewhat infamous for being a victim of rough justice. Thankfully, with this bitter
experience behind me, now I can just get on with my life and enjoy spending time with my friends,
my dear mum, my sisters Maria and Anna,
my girlfriend Dawn, their families and my daughter
Danielle. *** Honour The Fire ***

Very early days but the result of Dawn's 8 to 9 week scan at the QE2 hospital in Welwyn Garden City can be viewed
here. Meanwhile, a very welcome email received on The
Gathering from Paul Jones (the former drummer of Red Beat). It appears that a CD of Red Beat recordings (including
their fantastic John Peel session and various single tracks) is available at
the Manic Machine Products website to
celebrate the 25th anniversary of their own Malicious Damage Records release. Excellent.

A special 12" limited edition '25th anniversary' heavy transparent red vinyl version of the original Malicious
Damage 10" debut from Killing Joke (complete with all the original inserts) is now available
at the Malicious Damage website.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the release of the Malicious Damage
10" EP single (Are You Receiving ? Turn To Red & Nervous System) but will be forever remembered as the day that
the legendary DJ
John Peel tragically died of a heart attack aged 65.
Of course good old Peelie was an early champion of Killing Joke as
the 1990 Spiral Scratch article explains :
<< The "Turn To Red" EP was self distributed and when John Peel received a copy he played all three
tracks on his radio show that very night. Killing Joke also did what was to become John Peel's most
requested session ever, recording Pssyche, Wardance and early songs Nuclear Boy and
Malicious Boogie >> ... John Peel ... an absolute legend ... rest in peace.

Tickets are now on sale for an imminent Killing Joke "25th Anniversary" gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday 25th
February 2005. Rumours suggest that Thursday night will be added shortly & both nights to be filmed for a DVD release.

Saw a thoroughly enjoyable set by the reformed S*M*A*S*H last night at Club 85 in Hitchin with my better half Dawn.
A few photos were taken including a couple here of main man
Ed Borrie and bassist Salv Alessi.

A mini-gathering at The Enterprise, Chalk Farm last night with Rob Moss, Colesy, Ed & myself having a few beers
whilst watching the Austria vs England "World Cup Qualifier" and an entertaining live set
from Eddie Tenpole.

My first return visit to Eire since 1994 was hugely memorable not least for Friday's superb tour of the Irish Air
Corps base at Baldonnel (aka Casement Airfield, west of Dublin).
Friendly and hospitable beyond belief.

As the XVIII Olympiad commences in Athens, it is reassuring to know that one can now attend
the annual Hellenic Air Force "Open Days" and take an in depth interest in the aircraft on
display without fear of being arrested & accused of being a spy (see pages
1,
2,
3) but be severely
warned that it seems to help if you are of Greek extraction. So much for a European Union.

"Killing Joke ... For Beginners" is released today on Virgin/EMI.
A retrospective CD to compliment "Laugh ? I Nearly Bought One !". Meanwhile last night I saw
the Illyria Outdoor Theatre company heroically battle against
the London Heathrow easterly outbounds as they put on an open air production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest"
in Osterley Park ... another jumbo cometh methinks !!!

Today was my first visit to The
London Planetarium since 1985 as part of a pleasant day trip to
Madame Tussauds. The dawn of a brand new
age for me and it was followed by a stroll around the Tate Modern & a gorgeous Persian meal. Lovely.

HEY VENUS ! Truly a special day as Venus makes a
rare passage across the face of the Sun for the first time since 1882 !!! Also today my family finally departs
from Southall after some 47 years. Meanwhile last night I managed to get into
the Dublin Castle in Camden to see the first (and probably
the last) ever gig by THE FAT PUNKS featuring none other than a spiky haired Jonathan Ross on vocals, Vic Reeves on
guitar & two guys from Menace on drums/bass. Their brief but legendary set
featured "12XU", their own "Punk Daddy", "God Save The Queen" and an aborted attempt at "Pretty Vacant". Classic stuff !

So, my beloved Chelsea FC have finally parted company
with Claudio Ranieri, even
after the dignified and honourable Italian secured our highest League finish since the championship winning team
of 1954/55. We wish you well Claudio, together with all our hearts.

Well, what a night that was - Tuesday night's Headcount gig at

We must all do it again some time.

Sink or swim, every day is war. As blood continues to be shed in the land that once was
Mesopotamia, veterans have marked the 60th anniversary of one of World War II's bloodiest
battles at Monte Cassino
in Italy. The war graves of more than 4,000 British and Commonwealth servicemen stretch in
every direction from the site but my own father, fighting with
the Polish 2nd Corps, got out alive.

It appears that Killing Joke may not tour until the Autumn season now. Meanwhile an
imminent Gathering is scheduled to take place at
Gossips (69 Dean Street, Soho, London W1) on Tuesday 25th May 2004 to celebrate the
release of the new Headcount album.

Last Saturday 27th March 2004 was a momentous day in aviation, if not world, history. High above a dry
lake bed otherwise known as at Edwards AFB in California (been there, done it, got the t-shirt) the world
witnessed the first successful flight of the X-43A
"scramjet". So come on, who said aviation was boring ? Wise up folks, the hypersonic age is here.

Happy Birthday ! Killing Joke is 25 years old today - indeed it is Jaz Coleman's birthday. Meanwhile my long drawn
out problem in Greece finally ended yesterday as the *balance* of the bail money was returned. Some further thoughts
on the incident can be found on the Kalamata page.
A somewhat painfully expensive experience but it is finally over. No way out but forward go ...
