The Local Distribution of Yesodic Matter
Matter from different Domains interacts gravitationally. Therefore,
the gravitational well of the Earth may be expected to have attracted a large
amount of other-Domain matter.
How much? And how is it distributed?

The gravitational well formed by the Earth has
attracted Dark matter from
all the other Domains. The matter from each separate
Domain, interacting only gravitationally, will form a spherical cloud centered on the Earth's center of mass.
We can tell a surprising
amount about the size, density, mass and angular momentum of
the Yesodic "cloud" from the few simple things we know about the
Yesodic Darks.

Q. What proportion of the matter in the Earth's gravitational well
is ordinary,
everyday Briahtic matter, of the sort of which we are composed?
A. At least 95%. We can calculate the
total mass of the Earth, (including matter from
all Domains), by observing the effect of its
gravitational pull on artificial satellites.
It is 5.983×1024 Kg. Though we are not certain of the exact
composition of the (Briahtic) Earth's core, we know that it is largely molten
Nickel-Iron, freezing onto a solid core at about 2000 kilometers down.
What we know of the equation of state of nickel-iron assures us that
almost all the planet's mass is Briahtic. By changing the
proportion of nickel to iron in our models and adjusting the
proportions of other elements it is possible to find spare mass for a little
non-Briahtic matter: but only a little.

Q. If only 5% of the matter is non-Briahtic, how is that non-Briahtic matter distributed?
A. The Yesodic Darks have told us curiously little about this
simple fact.
However, we do
know that there are Yesodic creatures that are not intelligent and
are yet able to navigate in the environment near the Earth's surface.
Since they are able to move, there must be some medium they move in:
since they move both horizontally and vertically with disconcerting ease,
that medium must be
fluid: and this fluid must extend from the Earth's
center out at least to a radius equal to the (Briahtic) surface.
Since the Earth has an average density of 5.5, the fluid, even if it
is incompressible, can have a density of no more than approximately 0.25.
In fact, this is the extreme high value. We have some declassified
logs from instruments designed to track these
non-intelligent Yesodic entities (1): and though
we can only follow the motion of the
creatures' centres of gravity, and
approximately record their mass and size,
we can tell enough from the dynamics of
their movements to confirm that:
- They are in a fluid (which we can observe slowly dampens their
velocity when they are not expending energy)
- The fluid is approximately corotating with the solid Briahtic matter of the Earth.
- Relative to that Briahtic "background", the fluid has currents
of the order of 4 meters/sec, in directions
which seem to vary cyclically according to the time of day. The
currents have a considerable vertical component and may
therefore be of convective origin. This in turn suggests that the
fluid draws energy from cross-Domain interactions in
the deep strata of the Earth, a speculation
which is apparently confirmed by Transmission XII
- The fluid is of near-zero viscosity and is much less dense
than water; the best estimate is that it is about
one-tenth as dense as water, i.e with density 0.1.(2)
- The fluid extends well above the Earth's
(Briahtic) surface. Observations have been made at up to
400 km altitude. (3)

Q. How much matter is there belonging to
Domains other than Briah and Yesod?
A. We believe that Briahtic and Yesodic matter together make
up at least 98% of
the planet's mass. There is very little non-Yesodic Dark matter in
the Earth's gravitational well.
The picture we are left with is that of a deep "ocean" of
Yesodic liquid (liquid, not gas, because incompressible), about
one-tenth as dense as water. It corotates with Briahtic matter;
it extends out to a radius of about 7000 km from the Earth's
core; there are convection currents in it; it contains large
numbers of living creatures, some of whom are intelligent.
Does this ocean extend to the planet's core, or does it become
solid at
some depth? What is its temperature profile?
Is there a Yesodic "atmosphere", or a solid insulating crust, above
the stratum of fluid? So far, we do not know.
