News & Views Exploitation of cross-Domain interactions by Yesodic lifeMuch Yesodic life depends on energy drawn from the Briahtic Domain. The most obvious example of this is the transfer of heat energy from the Earth's core which keeps the Yesodic matter in the local environment at approximately 330 K. However, Yesodic entities also appear to exploit Briahtic interactions in ways intimately connected with their metabolism. This article gives a brief summary of what has been observed.
One of the fundamental mechanism of Yesod-Briah interaction is electromagnetic. Our best understanding is that this is the simplest of the several methods by which Yesodic enities transfer energy or force beween the Domains. The third generation of the Yesodic hadrons, the heavy fundamental particles termed yod-tops and yod-bottoms, have a weak electromagnetic charge, approximately e/23 (1) and therefore interact with Briahtic matter. Though these particles are rare, and are individually about 1000 times as heavy as a proton, they can be assembled together with other Yesodic leptons and hadrons into solid structures held together by the Near and Far Yesodic forces. Because the yod-top and yod-bottom have an electric charge, as well as a Near and a Far charge, they interact weakly with any Briahtic matter in the vicinity. The strength of the interaction can be tuned, not by varying the charges on the yod-top and yod-bottom particles, but by expanding or contracting the matrix within which they reside. The net electric charge of the matrix is zero. When the charged yods are allowed to move closely together, their positive and negative charges nearly cancel out and the Briahic interaction falls. When they are moved far apart, the interaction rises.
Simple Examples of InteractionsThe inter-Domain interactions take place as part of the biological metabolism of the Yesodic entities. The Yesodic Darks are not (apparently) tool-users, but they appear to be able to tune this interaction with exquisite accuracy: and some of the nonsentient Darks, of which there are apparently many species(?), also exploit it.Three typical examples of this energy and force transfer are given below.
Temperature ControlThe Yesodic Darks have a metabolism which is apparently viable over a very wide range of temperature. Some sub-clades use their interaction with Brahtic matter to gain or to lose heat, apparently to aid their metabolic economy. In four cases (2) Yesodic Darks under study have been recorded "dumping" large amounts of heat into solid rock, soil, or concrete. In one furthur case, a Dark emerged into air, and its heat- shedding organ, visible to the naked eye, was mistaken for ball lightning(3). In all these cases, the Darks appeared have recently ascended from deeper levels of the Earth. The Darks also sometimes seem to suck heat out of the Briahtic environment, but this is not easy to establish. The Darks have either not understood or have deliberately refused to cooperate with attempts to systematically study their metabolism.
EnergyThe Darks appear to modulate their interaction with Briah so as to change their body temperature in a regular cycle, alternating beween the temperatures of the Yesodic and Briahtic matter backgrounds. We believe the Darks gain metabolic energy in this fashion: (though they also appear to consume the non-intelligent Yesodic lifeforms.) It is theorised that the metabolism of a typical non-intelligent entity in Yesod - a semi-sessile Yesodic "plant", if you like - is driven by cyclic temperature changes, not by photosynthesis. We theorise that such creatures sink deep into the Yesodic fluid inside the Earth, riding convection currents, and allow themselves to heat up, undergo "chemical" equilibrium changes, and then rise again. When they reach the higher levels of the Yesodic fluid they are able to cool and "ride" the chemical gradient back to the new temperature-determined equilibrium, harvesting metabolic energy. These "plants" may be the very distant ancestors of the Darks. But, like us, the Darks shortcircuit the slow task of gathering energy from the environment by consuming other living things.
Navigation
Interaction with Briah can be exploited to aid navigation and movement in several ways. Most obviously, it can be used to anchor a Dark in one position with respect to the Briahtic background. This has been recorded: typically, the center of gravity of a Dark that is not "anchored" shows a perterbative feedback that suggests that the Dark is intermittently expending energy to hold itself in place. But an "anchored" Dark, (which always has its center of mass located inside some solid Briahtic body), remains absolutely stationary, and presumably needs to expend no energy to do so. More debatable is the question of whether the Briahtic interaction can be regulated in such a way that it allows free movement along only one direction, and so be used as a "keel". Using this method, a Dark could in theory harness typical Yesodic fluid currents to move at 10-20 meters per second with very little expenditure of energy. Some logs recording the center-of-mass motion of the Darks (4) show behavior that is claimed to be "tacking" against the prevailing Yesodic current, but this is very much in debate. Of course, the force and energy transfer goes both ways. It seems that a Dark could, in theory, move large amounts of loose Briahtic matter by "anchoring" to it and then moving its body. This has, however, never been witnessed. The Transmssions hint at the probable reason for this; the Darks usually inhabit the interior of the Earth and have only rarely emerged above it within human history. There are increasingly frequent signs that this habit may be changing (5) now the Darks are aware of the existence of intelligent creatures in Domain Briah
SpeculationsWe understand now how Yesodic entities draw energy from Briah, dump heat into Briah, and use Briahtic matter as feet- and finger-holds while clambering around inside their own Domain. Our surprise that this has not apparently disrupted our own realm of being is muted when we consider that almost all the interaction takes place within solid rock.I has been claimed that the Transmissions show more complex and subtle interactions. The wildest claim is that, as Yeodic entities exploit interaction with Briah, so do some Briahtic entities exploit interactions with Yesod, and even with other Domains. This cannot be dismissed, though the rush by some to identify these interactions with (respectively) Consciousness (6), Telepathy (7), and a Pre- or After- life (8) is certainly premature. However, it may be appropriate to end with a little speculation. Living things have been using cross-Domain interactions for billions of years: and their current abilities will be correspondingly sophisticated. We know life is extremely common in Yesod: we may expect every possibility to have been exploited. We may expect cross-Domain entities which evolved locally, others which came from outside the Solar System; We may expect many which exploit only the local "Briahtic" energy background, some which - if what the Transmissions tell us about other Domains is true - are tuned for cross-Domain interaction of two, ten or more Domains. Some will be simple animals, some technologically competent. Some have evolved cross-Domain metabolism, others learned it intelligently. Some may be microscopic, some - like the Yesodic Darks - vast. Some may even be composed of symbioses between cross-Domain entities which originated in different Domains and found mutual profit. These have their "bodies" distributed between Domains and will be badly hurt by anything which disrupts the cross-Domain interaction. Others will be 99% in one "home" Domain with only sensors, extensions and energy-gathering probes contacting other Domains. These will be shut out, but will be able to retire unhurt. It is impossible to do more than suggest starting points. |
