DUSKY WARBLER
Phylloscopus fuscatus
What would we do if Duskie's weren't vocal!!! The general consensus in Lizard Land is that the bird discovered on the 4th along Flycatcher Alley by Colin Jacobs could be the same bird seen on October 27th at Gunton Beach. It was still present on the 5th when it ranged surprisingly widely, and often silently, between Flycatcher Alley steps along the Lowestoft North Denes slope and into Warrenhouse Wood to the north of Links Road. This would be a plausible explanation as to why it hasn't been seen since October; and given the paucity of records of the species this autumn so far the odds of two are far less than in a bumper year. Early morning on the 5th it gave good views before moving north in the bracken when it became difficult.

Still present on the 6th and 7th along the slope above the Denes Oval and again wandering northwards during the day but couldn't be found on the 8th. On the 9th it gave good views early morning and was calling most of the time which really helped locate it. There was no sight nor sound of it on the 10th or 11th though.
