Sylvia undata

Two were seen at Gunton Warren on the 4th. At least one of them was still present on the 5th, though it proved very elusive most of the time lurking in the extensive cover of bracken. Thereafter noted on the 7th, 8th, 9th (2), 12th, 13th, 15th, 19th, 28th (1).

Up to 2002 we had waited 118 years between records in Lowestoft, now they come along like buses, with seven recorded in total now. Since the ones at Gunton and Corton in 2002 the species has been recorded in Lowestoft in October 2004 and now in April and November 2005, on all occasions at Gunton Warren. Hopefully the winter won't be too cold and finish them off again.
