One was in Hamilton Dock on the 9th and 28th.
Two were roosting on the Kittiwake Wall in Lowestoft Harbour on the 30th.

One flew westwards over Oulton Broad on the 19th.

One flew out to sea off Pakefield on the 20th and then returned back. On the 21st it was on Oulton Broad. ]

A female flew north past Ness Point on the 25th before settling on the sea off the North Beach.

Two were at Carlton Marshes on the 7th with three there on the 11th.
Four were at Castle Marshes, Barnby on the 15th.
One flew eastwards over Oulton Broad on the 17th.

Three were soaring together (along with three Marsh Harriers) over Castle Marshes, Barnby on the 15th.



COMMON BUZZARD

One was circling over Mutford on the 7th.
Two drifted over Pakefield on the afternoon of the 18th. One headed northwards the other westwards.
One was circling over the River Hundred water meadows at Henstead on the 19th before drifting off towards Benacre.
One was seen at Beccles Marshes on the 29th.

One was seen at Kessingland sewage works on the 12th.
One immature male was seen at Corton old sewage works on the 28th.

One flew north past Kessingland on the 27th.
A flock of five flew north past Lowestoft North Beach on the evening of the 30th.

One flew north past Kessingland on the 27th (1 N), 29th (1 N), 30th (3 N).
One flew north at Ness Point at 07.00 on the 30th, before the three of Kessingland the same day.

A first winter/summer bird with very pale wingtips was around the fish market in Lowestoft harbour on the 9th.

A Meadow Pipit ringed at Spurn Head, East Yorkshire on 18th September 2006 was trapped and released at Corton 17 days later.

One was on the Denes Oval on the 22nd.
One was at Kessingland sewage works on the 22nd.
Two were seen at Corton on the 22nd.
One bright male was by the net posts on Lowestoft North Denes on the 25th.
Two males were on the Denes Oval on the 26th, later flying off south.
One was at Beccles Marshes on the 29th.

Lowestoft - 5th (small numbers passing over in the evening).

- 5th (1), 13th (1), 17th (1).
Fisher Row - 9th (1), 10th (3).

A Redwing that was trapped at ringed at Corton on 16th October 2004 was shot in France on 17th December 2005.



CETTI'S WARBLER Cettia cetti

One was at Kessingland sewage works on the 4th, with two there on the 8th.
At least 16 were heard (and several were quite showy as well) at Carlton Marshes on the 7th.
20 were singing at Carlton Marshes on the 11th.
Eight were at Kessingland sewage works on the 13th. (Three new birds were trapped and ringed, three were retrapped and two more were singing from the fishing lake area).
2+ were at Burgh Castle on the 16th.
Another new bird was trapped and ringed at Kessingland on the 20th.
Numerous on both banks of the River Waveney at Beccles Marshes this spring.
The succession of mild winters is certainly to this species advantage.

GARDEN WARBLER
Sylvia borin

A Garden Warbler warbler ringed on the Isle of May in the Firth of Forth, Scotland on 12th August 2006 was trapped and released at Kessingland three days later on the 15th, a distance of 504 kilometres. It weighed 21.5 grams on the 12th and 17.4 grams on the 15th, a loss of nearly a fifth of it's starting body weight.
One was seen and heard at Beccles Marshes on the 19th.

NON-BIRD NEWS


Small Copper and Speckled Wood butterflies were at Kessingland sewage works on the 14th. Speckled Woods were also seen at Beccles Common and Castle Marshes, Barnby on the 15th.

A Hairy Dragonfly was on the wing at Beccles Marshes on the 23rd, and by the 28th more were seen at Belton and Fisher Row, on the 29th also at Castle Marshes, Barnby and at Mutford on the 30th. Large Red Damselfly was noted at Mutford on the 19th and Variable Damselflies were seen at Fisher Row on the 28th.


At least one Dolphin/Pilot Whale was seen off Ness Point early morning on the 21st. On the 25th at least 6-8 Common Dolphins were seen off Kessingland.
