Hamilton Dock - The first winter bird (pictured below) was still present from the 1st to 13th, though it occasionally ventures westward along Lake Lothing almost as far as the railway footbridge.

One was trotting north along the pavement in London Road South on the evening of the 27th.

Breydon South Wall - 27th (2). An encouraging sign that the slow return to former haunts is continuing.

Breydon South Wall - 27th (2). Equally encouraging signs that this species may also be staging a small comeback from oblivion.

The second Hummingbird Hawk-moth of the year was seen in Wolseley Road, Southtown on the 14th.
Clear skies on the evening of the 3rd, as well as providing excellent conditions for migrating Redwings to head back to Europe, also resulted in good views of the total lunar eclipse. Saturn was also on show nearby as well.
