The Memotech MTX series - one of the host of home computers from the 1980's that nearly made it. Like many systems of its era, it still has a loyal following as any search of the net will show. I wrote the Acorn version of the emulator, !MTX, when it was obvious that my MTX (or rather the FDX disc system) was on it's last legs. Until recently I beleive this was the only MTX emulator that had been written. I understand that an Apple version is in development. As a result of releasing !MTX on the Acorn Cyber village, I had an email asking if a PC conversion was possible - It wasn't, almost the entire program was written in ARM assembler and the remainder in BBC Basic V, neither of which will convert to PCs. This program is available download with or without the source code. More details on the download page.
However ...... 12 month on I started work on a completely new version on the PC again written in assembler. The current state of the emulator is still definitely pre alpha. Though I have a version for download for diehard enthusiasts. It only runs text mode, and there are still major bug in the Z80 emulation ( try: PRINT 1 to see what I mean) loading and saving are not yet implemented
I managed to transfer a small number of games off the Memotech and the are available here for download if you really want them.
The
downloads page has the Emulators as well as the individual games
This is an electronic
version of the PCW review of the RS128 from 1984
Technical specs etc of the various Memotech systems
