Charming and unusual skirt wrapper cloth from the Dogon people. Made for use as a dance skirt for a festive occasion this is a recent but used piece that draws on both an old tradition of coloured embroidery on handspun indigo dyed cloth wrappers and a more recently invented technique in which pattern is added using strips of aluminium recycled from tin cans.
