Exceptionally rare men's hand spun cotton wrapper cloth collected in a village in the border area between north Ghana and Côte D'Ivoire. Although no similar pieces are documented or published to our knowledge we are tentatively attributing the origin of this cloth to weavers in the vicinity of Bondoukou. However it is the only known example of this style collected to date, and may be from further west in Ivory Coast. The float patterns are in imported thread, some colours of which are knitting wool. The cloth has a soft well used feel and probably dates from around the 1950s or earlier. It has a couple of small repairs but overall is in very good condition.
