CODE #: fr397 PRICE: Email us for price Measurement: 111ins x 77ins, 283cm x 195cm Superb cloth that demonstrates the extreme subtlety of decoration in some classic Bondoukou textiles. Narrow diamond shaped supplementary weft float motifs are aligned in alternating red and white rows across the width of the fabric. Slight variations are achieved by replacing the diamond with a narrow lattice in two or three places and by swapping the colour in the top or penultimate strip. These diamonds are a feature of Dioula weaving, one of the ethnic groups who have contributed to the development of Bondoukou cloth design. The hems at each end are neatly hand stitched. Dates from early C20th and is in excellent condition with no stains, holes or repairs. (c) Duncan Clarke, Version 19/02/2009 |
