Fine example of a Dioula woman's ceremonial wrapper cloth with a well executed version of the prestige warp ikat design known as "suruku kawa" or "spotted hyena" From Kong or neighbouring towns of north Ivory Coast and southern Burkina Faso. Finely woven examples of typical Dioula supplementary weft float motifs on hand spun cotton indigo dyed strips alternate with the ikat (machine spun thread) strips.  In excellent condition, date mid C20th.
