These distinctive cloths with regularly placed supplementary weft float patterns on a hand spun indigo dyed cotton ground were worn by senior men among the Gouro and their northern Mande neighbours, and in some cases also by Baule. This fine example has a small old darned repair just left of the central pattern block but otherwise is in excellent condition, dates from mid C20th.
