Rare early C20th hand tailored and hand embroidered robe with neat well executed embroidery in the classic "eight knives" design. The cloth used mixes cotton with magenta silk alaari from the trans-Saharan trade. The robe has recently been cleaned and pressed by the ancient local method that involves beating and imparts a slightly glazed starchy finish. It is in excellent condition.
