Status in Britain:
Common
This leafy liverwort is found (often abundantly) on tree bases, logs
and rocks in acidic oak woodlands in Wales, sometimes in more open habitats.
One of the larger Scapania species it has the typical bilobed and
folded leaves of the genus - in this case, the upper (antical) lobe is
curled back on itself, away from the stem.
