Status in Britain: Red Data Book

This is an extremely rare moss in Britain, and in Wales is recorded only from one location - old peat cuttings on the edge of Cors Caron. It has not been refound here however since it's original discovery in 1967. Somewhat similar in general appearance to the more common Sphagum angustifolium, it can vary in colour from a rather dingy brown-green to a deep orange.
