in Britain: Common
This moss can be abundant on the ground in woodlands, and is distinguished by a reddish stem, with the leaves having the appearance of being swept to one side of the stem and branches (secund). It is related to the moss most commonly found in lawns - Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus - and to Rhytidialdelphus triquetrus. |
