Status in Britain: Nationally Scarce

As its specific name implies, this liverwort is tiny, with each of its leaves only about 0.25 of a millimetre long. The leaves occur in two rows, and each leaf is lobed and folded to form a shape like two hands cupped and placed together (see inset). This arrangement may facilitate water retention.
